Meet Our Founder

Hi, I’m Katie Hammon—founder of Second House and co-owner of The Maples Estate, an extended-weekend wedding venue in upstate New York.

I’m a destination wedding planner, designer, coach, and event producer who helps people bring their most meaningful ideas to life. My work sits at the crossroads of creativity and clarity—shaping experiences that feel personal, intentional, and grounded in who you are.

My path has never been linear, but it has always been purposeful. I began in arts administration and event operations, supporting complex productions at The Palace Theatre and EMPAC. I moved through hospitality leadership and into nonprofit executive direction, producing citywide festivals, leading marketing initiatives, and championing hundreds of small businesses and creative entrepreneurs. Along the way, I learned how to hold big visions, navigate pressure with calm, and create environments where people feel seen, supported, and able to thrive.

Second House grew out of that blend—strategy, heart, depth, and design. It’s a studio for those who want their wedding, retreat, or business to feel not just beautiful, but meaningful. I bring a producer’s discipline, a designer’s intuition, and a deep respect for people and place to everything I do.

At Second House, I’m here to help you shape what matters most—thoughtfully, creatively, and with a sense of ease that lets you feel at home in the process.
