Meet Our Founder

Hi, I’m Katie Hammon—founder of Second House and co-owner of The Maples Estate, an extended weekend wedding venue in upstate New York.

I’m a wedding planner, designer & event producer creating meaningful, elevated experiences.

While I now dedicate my days to helping clients plan weddings, design immersive events, and build thriving businesses, my path here has been anything but ordinary. I began in the music industry, working in operations and arts administration for The Palace Theatre and Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer. Somewhere in the middle I transitioned into hospitality and restaurant operations and eventually served as the Executive Director for Downtown Troy’s Business Improvement District. In that role, I produced large-scale events, led marketing initiatives, served on several boards and committees, supported local organizations, startups and hundreds of small businesses.

That journey shaped the heart of Second House: a creative space where strategy meets intention, and every celebration or brand is treated with the same level of care and craft. I bring a producer’s mindset, a designer’s eye, and a deep respect for people and place to everything I do—whether it's a wedding weekend, a retreat, or a business consulting session.
