Interior Design + Creative Direction for Spaces in New York + Beyond
Places with personality. Room to gather. Thought in every detail.
UPSTATE NEW YORK · HUDSON VALLEY · CAPITAL REGION · NEW YORK CITY · BEYOND
We help shape homes, hospitality spaces, and community places around the people who use them.
From a historic farmhouse to a neighborhood gathering space, we bring creative direction, interior design, and practical thinking together to create environments that feel personal, welcoming, and considered.
EVERY SPACE HAS POSSIBILITIES. Let’s explore yours.
How do you want to feel when you walk in?
Maybe you’re drawn to a building with history, opening a space that needs to express the personality of your business, rethinking a room that has never quite worked or bringing together years of collected objects and ideas into something that feels like you.
We begin with the place itself and the life you imagine within it.
Who will spend time here? What will they do? What should feel easy? What deserves attention? What’s already here that you want to bring forward? Those questions guide the design, from the layout of a room to the light beside a favorite chair.
HOW WE THINK. Design for the life within it.
WHAT WE DO. From the whole room to the finishing details.
A PLACE TO ARRIVE. A REASON TO SETTLE IN.
The Maples Estate
At The Maples Estate, we live with the relationship between design and hospitality every day.
The farmhouse welcomes overnight guests, families getting ready for a celebration, conversations over coffee, and quiet moments between events. Across the property, people move between intimate rooms, open landscapes, and spaces designed for gathering.
Being both the designer and owner means we experience how those spaces work over time. We see where people naturally settle, what they need close at hand, and how a room changes with different groups and occasions.
That experience informs the questions we bring to every project: how a place feels when someone arrives, how it supports the people using it, and what makes them want to stay.

YOUR DESIGNER + CREATIVE PARTNER
Hi, I'm Katie.
I’m interested in the relationship between people and the places they spend time.
My background brings together hospitality, events, community development, business ownership, and design. Across those experiences, I’ve learned to consider a space from several perspectives: the person arriving, the people gathering, and the team responsible for making it all work.
As co-owner of The Maples Estate, I’ve had the opportunity to shape both the spaces where people stay and celebrate and the experiences that unfold within them.
My work has also included interior planning for Oakwood Community Center, for small businesses and individuals and participation in public-space initiatives in Downtown Troy. Those settings ask different questions, but each begins with understanding who a place serves and what it could become.
I bring that curiosity to every project, along with an appreciation for character, personal history, and the details that make a space feel like somewhere you belong.
FROM FIRST IMPRESSION TO EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE.
“Working with Katie was a relief. She "got" exactly what I was looking for and knew exactly how to work with our organization's needs and limitations. I never felt pressured or judged, just supported."

CONNECTING THE WORK
A space often belongs to a bigger idea. You might be opening a venue, developing a hospitality business, creating a community gathering place, or bringing a brand into a physical setting. We can connect the design work with business strategy, communications, and the experiences you plan to host.
